Type of course Lecture + Exercise
Level Main Study Program / Master
Semester Winter Semester

Aim of the course

In the compulsory subject "Forming technology - process chain in automotive engineering: from material to product", the entire process chain of car body construction in the automotive sector is explained. Special issues of steel production, the design of the entire sheet metal forming stage sequence, tool production, forming and the various joining processes such as welding, bonding, riveting and clinching for the production of the body-in-white (bodyshell) are dealt with. The current development trends in the automotive construction sector with regard to lightweight construction and the use of new materials are shown and procedures in the development and production process for shortening development times are explained.
