Aim of the course
"Application of the FEM preferably for implants" begins with an insight into the history and theory of the finite element method (FEM). The structure and the functionality of FEM calculation systems are then explained. Building on this, basic skills for the application of the FEM are taught using practical medical and production engineering examples. The course concludes with more specialised topics in the context of the FEM (material models, material and process data, use of the rigid-plastic formulation, remeshing, Euler's approach, use of the explicit FEM).
Lecture contents
- Introduction to FEM
- Design of commercial FE systems
- Applications of FEM in medical technology
