Institute for Forming Technology and Forming Machines Studies Courses
Practical introduction to FE simulation of sheet metal forming processes

Practical introduction to FE simulation of sheet metal forming processes

Type of course Lecture + Exercise
Level During Studies
Semester Winter Semester
Maximum number of students 9
Prerequisites FEM, numerical mathematics, forming technology

Aim of the course

The aim of the tutorial is to gain initial practical experience with commercial FE software in relation to the simulation of sheet metal forming processes.

Lecture contents

In a short introductory lecture, an overview of the basics and applications of FE simulation in forming technology is given. The operation of a commercial FE system is explained using simple examples. Building on this, the students will be given specific forming technology tasks which they will calculate independently using FEM.
