In the context of the event, numerous other institutes presented themselves alongside IFUM in order to show young people the extensive diversity in the field of mechanical engineering. The institutes of the PZH organised groups of different age ranges from 10 to 15 children, who were divided between the various institutes.
The IFUM welcomed two groups of pupils, one consisting of boys and the other of girls, with an average age of 13. Each groups spent an hour exploring the IFUM, discovering the experimental area and taking part in exciting experiments.
As part of this, the pupils were given practical insights into the investigation of materials and their properties. A special highlight was the opportunity to stamp coins themselves, which was enthusiastically accepted by the pupils. Each pupil received a specially stamped coin as a souvenir of this exciting day. The pupils also had the opportunity to measure the forces required for stamping, which were presented live on a screen using modern technology. During the event, the pupils also asked interesting questions, such as: "How big is the difference in force to form aluminium compared to steel?"
The pupils were able to gain new insights and gain unique experiences at the same time. Some very interested faces give us hope that we may have opened the way for a future engineer on this day.
