Abstract

At the Leibniz University of Hanover two metal forming machines were developed. These presses are driven by high-performance electro - magnets. Therefore, the kinematics of the ram can be programmed by the operator of the press as the ram is not rigidly connected to an eccentric shaft like at conventional presses. With these presses small components were manufactured accurately up to a stroke rate of 1,600 spm. Furthermore, a servo-electrically driven feeder was developed. This feeder accurately positions the sheet metal while the electromagnetically actuated press is in operation.
