Abstract

Due to their high achievable strength, hot stamped components are particularly suitable for reducing the mass of modern car body parts. However, the high strength also leads to a limited application of mechanical joining processes. Therefore, the ductility of the sheet material during hot stamping should be used to simultaneously applicate a functional element into the component. A tool system was designed and put into operation for this purpose.
