- Abstract
The process of die pressing of complex components from titanium and its alloys is investigated. Powder metallurgy processing of titanium for the production of near-net-shape parts offers cost reduction because of highly efficient utilization of material as well as the shortened production process. It was found that the use of titanium powder with longish grains and a rough surface as well as a higher bulk density is more advantageous for pressing than atomized titanium powder with a smooth surface. The results show that die pressing represents an excellent economical process, which is also suitable for processing titanium.
