Abstract

Designing a fully parametric CAD model of a sheet forming tool in a 3D CAD system expends temporal and financial effort and thus engineers shy away from it. The Institute of Forming Technology and Machines (IFUM) and the Society for the Advancement of Applied Computer Science (GFaI) are currently developing a new method for the model driven design of deep drawing tools. The core of this method is a graphical modelling language for the domain of deep drawing tools. Meta models of these tools allow the generation of models which in turn can be transformed to parametric CAD models and completed by geometric modelling. The new method makes the modelling of parametric relations and dependencies easier and less error-prone.
